It's always summer somewhere

This image was taken near Shelly Beach in Caloundra on Queensland's Sunshine Coast on a cold winter's day. Beneath this short rock outcrop, water was trickling down amongst the shadows of the sandstone. My challenge was to capture this contrast with the open skies and distant detail of the background.

Some crazy hue and saturation adjustments were made from the original image (above), using Adobe Photoshop to produce the 70's inspired colourisation in the finished image below.

To further bring the complementary colours into play, matching text was added using Canva. The image was then horizontally flipped, printed onto Tecor light fabric iron-on transfer paper, and the image ironed onto a canvas tote bag. The finished result is a retro 70's record cover inspired reminder that it is always summer somewhere.
